The residence for Mr Jagadeesh and Mrs Hema is situated in the dense urban neighbourhood of Chacka in Trivandrum. The design of the residence is centered around the lives of the retired couple who wanted a well-lit and airy house to move into. The compact residence is designed around a central double height space along the east west axis. The living room, a double height space overlooked by the family living has tall openings designed to capture the morning sun. The staircase and service areas like toilets occupy the western wall, taking the brunt of the hot tropical Kerala sun.

The facade seeks to form an unassuming presence in the visually chaotic neighbourhood. Clean, ordered frames articulate a composition of white volumes, punctuated by narrow, deep-set openings that lend depth and rhythm.

The palette of finishes and textures is rooted in earthy hues, with soft eggshell tones complemented by the richness of wood. Teak-finished ceilings and wardrobes infuse the interiors with a sense of warmth and quiet comfort. Above, two circular openings in the roof draw sunlight into the central courtyard, where it moves gently through the day like a choreographed dance.
